Update June - July

First let me start by saying I am a terrible mother. I haven't updated this blog in over a month and haven't worked on Pj's scrapbook since Christmas!!!

Let's see... in the beginning of June we made the trip BACK down to Shriner's to pick up Pj's new AFO's. His heels are WAY up so they built up these cute shoes in the backs so that he could walk without locking his knees. They are working wonders. I also spoke with the scheduling coordinator at Shriner's this week and it seems Pj's first foot surgery has been pushed back from September to October/possibly November. That is good for me and Patric and Pj is not getting any worse so I figure I won't make a big stink. I will upload some pics of his new shoes/AFO's.

Last week (8/14/2006) we also picked up Pj's dynamic elbow braces from Hanger Orthotics. They had been ready for a month, but for some mysterious reason Pj's insurance was cancelled June 1st and I spent the whole month getting it corrected. I think it had something to do with changing him from Amerigroup to traditional medicaid based on his SSI and disability. I will post pictures of these as well. We're not having much luck getting him to wear them. I haven't even worked up to an hour a day yet. It was so much easier when Pj was smaller he would complain for a minute, but then he would just go on about his business with the splints on.

We have cut back on his therapy schedule as well. We are down to 1 session of O/T (30 min) and one session of S/T (30 min) weekly and P/T (30 min) every other week and we may actually go down to once a month on the P/T until he has his surgeries. Partially because I have been on bedrest since July 10 and am not supposed to be driving and partially because the P/T just doesn't know what to do with him, until we start the rehab for his surgeries and Pj's sick of doing stairs everyweek.

Now on to the fun stuff. On Father's Day we went to see Cars!!!! That is Pj's favorite movie. I wish it was out on DVD already. He's got all the little Car's toys that came in Happy Meals and even a big Cars poster on his wall. We also went to Chuck E. Cheese and Pj loved it!

Pj's vocab is expanding so much daily that I just don't even know what words are new anymore.

They have also been talking to me at therapy about getting with our local school district. Pj will start school after the Christmas break this year! I can't believe it!!! My little baby is growing up. Well I'll post all the pics I promised.
